APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Approved 9-0 as amended

Superintendent Herbert and President Walsh thanked student Board member Aryn Bernardo for her service for the past two years and wished her luck
SCHOOL CELEBRATION: Rundlett Middle School & Concord High School
- Rundlett Middle School shared an overview of the first year of the YSTAY program through the YMCA
- Concord High School student-leaders shared how the Freshman Orientation program held in July creates a more positive experience for incoming freshman
RECOGNITIONS / REPORTS
- Student Report - Aryn Bernardo & Clementine Mayala
- There are several year-end events in the next two weeks - Commitment Day, senior assembly, graduation practice ceremonies, the senior boat trip to Mount Washington and graduation at NHTI on June 13
- Aryn asked the Board to review how GPAs are calculated at the high school and that the lack of a weighted GPA put CHS students at a disadvantage when applying for college – the Board asked the Instructional Committee to review it next year
- Superintendent Report
- Retiree and Distinguished Educator Celebration – last week, the Board recognized distinguished educators and retirees in the district
- Nomination for New Assistant Principal: Deborah McGinty
- CHS Musical – Dear Evan Hansen was presented at Concord High School in May and the district partnered with NAMI-NH to offer mental health resources following the performance
- CHS Scholarship Night – $172,000 in scholarships were awarded to high school students last week
- RMS 8th Grade Ceremony – the ceremony is June 17
- CRTC Commencement was last week, recognizing 261 students that completed the two-year program
- CHS Prom and Graduation – prom was last Friday at the Grappone Center; graduation will be held at NHTI on Saturday, June 13

COMMUNICATIONS & POLICY
Three policies were presented for first reading
- Policy 901, Whistleblowers Protection (1st read)
- Policy 542, Acceptable Technology Use-Students (1st read)
- Policy 542.1, Use of Artificial Intelligence (1st read)
FACILITIES UPDATE
Last week, the district closed on the Contant Drive property which will be used as the field station for the middle school project
MIDDLE SCHOOL PROJECT UPDATE
- Monthly Status Report – report details are included in the Board packet
- Building Committee Meeting – June 4 – topics will include a presentation of the cost estimates, based on the 60% construction documents and the traffic study
- Special Board Meeting – June 8 – the Board will review VE options and costs
- 100% construction documents will be completed in August and a GMP (guaranteed maximum price) will be established in the fall
INSTRUCTIONAL COMMITTEE
- 306s Counseling Requirements – the district’s school counseling program follows the standards in the state rules
- Class Size Policy Committee – the committee will review class size recommendations and research on the optimal learning environment for students
- A committee has met on electronic devices in lower grades including teachers, community members and parents, with a report expected in the fall
- NHSAS Report – the NH statewide assessment testing ended this past week; preliminary data was shared with full data available in the fall
CITY & COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Memorial Field Update – at the last Memorial Field meeting with the city, a motion was approved directing Dave Gill and Steve Largy to return with a proposal for improvements that address the track, bleachers, press box and lights, with a budget of $12M for phase 1
FINANCE
- Finance monthly report – Jack Dunn reviewed the financial report and the unassigned fund balance for the year
- Special education finance reductions – the Board discussed the cost of special education services and doing an assessment to proactively manage costs
- Timeline of the sale of Dewey School – the Board needs to set a date to discuss a proposed warrant article and a date for a public hearing
- Eastman School – the district received one RFP for real estate broker services and would like to extend the submission deadline
NEGOTIATIONS
- CEA Update – CEA is reviewing the contract and potentially ratifying the contract tomorrow
- CIT Update – have a tentative agreement with the tutors and it was ratified

- Fall coaches – Michael Leonard was approved as the high school football coach – 9-0
- New teacher nomination – Kaileen Chilauskas was approved as an English teacher at the high school – 9-0
- New administrator nomination – Deborah McGinty was approved as assistant principal – 9-0
VOTES
- Tutor contract – will be added to the Board June 8 agenda
- Summer hiring – the Board gave the superintendent authority to hire during the summer– approved 9-0
- 306s counseling requirements – approved 9-0
- Eastman School RFP extension – the Board extended the RFP submission date for brokerage services to July 6
OTHER BUSINESS
- Superintendent Herbert reviewed the monthly enrollment report
