Community Invitation to Meet Superintendent Finalist Dr. Timothy Herbert

Dear Concord Community:
On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to share with you that the Board will vote at its February 2nd meeting on naming Dr. Timothy Herbert to serve as the permanent superintendent of the Concord School District.
We would like to invite parents, staff, faculty students and community members to meet with Dr. Herbert between 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27th at the Concord High School Library. There will also be an additional opportunity for staff and faculty to meet with Dr. Herbert on Friday, January 30th during the district’s Professional Development Day.
The District advertised for candidates to apply for the superintendent position this fall. Earlier this month, a committee of community members, staff, teachers, and a representative of the school board interviewed the candidates. The Committee unanimously recommended Dr. Herbert to the Board of Education. The Board then conducted its own interview with Dr. Herbert.
Dr. Herbert joined the district as an assistant principal at the high school in 2019 and became principal in 2023. Dr. Herbert has a current superintendent certification and a doctorate in education. Before coming to Concord, he was an assistant principal at Pembroke Academy. He was named acting superintendent right before the start of this school year and Interim superintendent this fall.
As a Board and a community, we have had the benefit of working with and watching Dr. Herbert in action for past five months as we all navigated a sudden transition and a number of significant challenges. We are excited for this next chapter for Concord’s schools and hope you will take the time to come meet Dr. Herbert and share your thoughts.
