Congratulations Jane Dodson!!

On May 30, the district recognized our distinguished educators and retirees. Below is the speech from Principal Repucci celebrating Jane Dodson.

Good evening, everyone. We gather tonight to celebrate someone truly special – our beloved Reading Specialist, Jane Dodson, as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement.

Isaac Newton once wrote, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." Tonight, I think about how many students have stood on Jane's shoulders over the years, seeing further into the world of literacy, learning, and possibility because of her dedication and care.

For years, Jane has been the heartbeat of our reading program. She didn't just teach students to decode words – she opened worlds for them. Whether a struggling reader finally grasped phonics or an advanced student discovered their passion for poetry, Jane met each child exactly where they were and helped them soar.

But Jane's impact extended far beyond formal reading instruction. Who could forget the excitement of Word of the Week, where vocabulary became an adventure? Or the mysterious intrigue of Crypto Club, where students eagerly cracked codes and puzzles? And our school store – what a brilliant way to blend real-world math, responsibility, and entrepreneurship into learning!

As a teacher and leader, Jane understood something fundamental: learning should be joyful. She made education come alive through creativity, innovation, and genuine care for each student who walked through her door.

As an educator, Jane led by example. As a colleague, she was generous with her time and wisdom. As a friend, she brought warmth and laughter to our school community. She has truly been a giant in our field – one whose shoulders have supported countless students and fellow educators.

While we will deeply miss Jane's presence in our hallways, her legacy lives on in every student she's taught, every program she's built, and every life she's touched.

Jane, thank you for your years of devoted service, your student-centered heart, and your friendship. Enjoy this next chapter – you've certainly earned it!

Please join me in giving Jane Dodson the warmest send-off as she begins her retirement.
